World Book Day

On Thursday 7th March the school celebrated world book day! The children were invited to come into school dressed as their favourite character from a book. We saw a variety of costumes from Professor McGonagall to Mary Poppins right down to The Hulk and Spiderman. A joyous day was had by all, and the true meaning of world book day was not lost as lots of reading took place too.

Donaldson Class had a wonderful time visiting Colchester Castle. We went back in time to 1000 years ago and experienced what it was like to live and work in the Castle. We worked as a team to build an arch. Dressed up as different characters and investigated special ‘object boxes’ linked to the character. With a Medieval Lady, we explored hidden parts of the Castle and climb the Great Stairs for a birds-eye view from the Castle roof. We had a wonderful day full of rich experiences which will help us with our learning.

On Thursday 14th March our year 1/2 class, Rosa Parks, visited Landguard Fort as part of their learning in History. the children got taken all around the fort learning lots of different things about how the fort would have been used during the wars, and how the soldiers lived.

We have been fortunate enough to have the lovely Steph from Creating Caring Connections work with us recently. We have been taking groups of children up to Coniston House residential home, to visit some of the residents and take part in games and activities with them. The first week we took half of our year 4/5 class and we did some origami together creating boats. The second week saw Attenborough (our year 5/6) class visit and take part in a quiz all about Felixstowe. This week will see the turn of Mandela (our year 2/3 class) visit the residents with Miss Wilson and Miss Gotts.

We held our annual Mother’s Day lunch here in school on Friday 8th March which was also International Women’s Day. Pupils invited a special female in their life into school to have lunch with them. We has lots of mums, nans, grandmas and auntie’s come along and join us. Our amazing cook Debbie created a scrumptious lunch of Lasagne with a beautiful salad bar, and a chocolate orange cheesecake for dessert.

On Tuesday 12th March, Mr Lowery, Miss Barratt and Miss Wilson took our choir of 28 to snape Maltings to perform in the Celebration 2024 performance. This was our second year being chosen to perform and the children were just as amazing this year! They sang “This is me” and “Reach out” They definitely did Langer proud singing and behaving beautifully! Well done.
